Il problema
Bookings were organised by hand and the contract side was rebuilt with every rental. With a fleet of thirty cars that means knowing which vehicle is free on a given date depends on whoever picks up the phone, and every contract is a document retyped from scratch.
Cosa ho costruito
A public site that sells the rental and a back office that holds it up, on the same database.
The public side shows the fleet with its daily rate and lets people book by choosing pick-up and return dates: availability is the real one, so the same car can't be booked twice. The pages are in Romanian, the language of the customers, and cover the reasons people actually rent — airport, weekend, replacement car, business trip, occasions.
The internal side is the back office: bookings, fleet status, and contracts generated from data that has already been entered, which is where the time used to go.
