When a custom store is the right call
Hardly ever at the start. If you sell straightforward products at a single price list, Shopify or WooCommerce are fine, and I'll tell you so rather than sell you something bigger.
Building to fit starts making sense when the standard platform begins costing you in workarounds: plugins that overlap, pricing rules maintained by hand, exports to your business software rebuilt every time.
How I go about it
- Looking at the real catalogue and the rules that govern it
- Settling the integrations with business software, shipping and payments
- A first release covering the main purchase flow, put straight into use
- Extending gradually to the less frequent cases

Shopify finché le sue regole coincidono con le tue. Il su misura conviene quando prezzi, varianti o magazzino non entrano nel modello standard, o quando l'integrazione con il gestionale è la parte che pesa di più.
